Manchester City vs Chelsea: the English final of a Champions League

Manchester City had a successful finish of 2020/21 season - they claimed their seventh title of the English Premier League. The Sky Blues were not at the first spot only in the beginning of the season, but they quickly rose to the top and secured a confident win, moreover, they have done it with a few matches before the finish of the tournament.

In 38 rounds The Citizens recorded 27 wins and five draws, which brought them 86 points. They finished the season with 12 points gap from the runner-up. Man City put up the best defensive performance this season with the great efficiency. English champions scored 83 goals, 13 of them were scored by Gundogan. In the closing match of the tournament team demolished Everton (5:0).

Aside from the championship title, Mancunians secured their eight English League Cup throughout their history and four of them were secured in a row. In the final of this one Manchester City beat Tottenham (1:0).

But so far Sky Blues haven't win the Champions League. In the current edition of this tournament team easily coasted past the group stage and then two times were drawn to German teams. In the first of them MC defeated Borussia Monchengladbach (4:0 on aggregate) and after that they beat down Borussia Dortmund (4:2 on aggregate).

The most difficult clash was in the semi-final, where Citizens were drawn to the mighty Paris Saint-Germain. Team managed to get an easy win over the French champions - 2:1 in the first one and 2:0 in the second one.

Pep Guardiola brought to the final at Portugal 24 players, all of whom are ready for the game.
