On July 27, Maria Sakkari and Elina Svitolina will determine a quarter-finalist of the Olympic tournament at Tokyo. Who will record a victory? You can find out in our prediction.

Command Analysis

Maria Sakkari

Maria Sakkari's most successful tournament in 2021 is Roland Garros. Greek player was close to the final at Paris, but failed to beat Krejcikova in the semi-final (5:7, 6:4, 7:9). On the next Grand Slam tournament in London Maria was less successful, she was beaten in the second round by Shelby Rogers (5:7, 4:6).
Then she had a break, which was essential to prepare for the Olympic Games at Tokyo. Since the first round Sakkari had to play against dangerous opponents, but she managed to beat Anett Kontaveit (7:5, 6:2) and then she secured a crushing victory over the Serbian player Nina Stojanovic (6:1, 6:2). It is very important that Maria kept a lot of energy for the round of 16.

Elina Svitolina

Just like her opponent, Elina Svitolina put up a disappointing performance on the Wimbledon, losing in the second round to Magda Linette (3:6, 4:6). There were concerns that wedding with Gael Monfils will distract the Ukrainian player and she won't perform successfully at Tokyo. But Elina managed to reach the round of 16.
Two first matches at Tokyo were not easy for the Ukrainian player. In the first one she almost blew her lead over Laura Siegemund (6:3, 5:7, 6:4). In the second round Svitolina recorded a comeback victory over Ajla Tomljanovic (4:6, 6:3, 6:4).
Now she will play against a dangerous opponent, Sakkari. Svitolina played three times against Maria and managed to win only once, on grass surface.
