ItalyLazio failed to earn a spot in the Top-4 of Serie A at the end of the previous season and qualified to the Europa League. Maurizio Sarri's side was drawn in the group with Galatasaray, Marseille and Lokomotiv. Team fought for the play-off spot until the last round, but Roman side eventually topped Marseille and secured a 2nd place finish, beating Les Provencales by only two points.
Lazio are in a difficult situation at Serie A - Romans surely dreamed about the Champions League qualification, but so far they are only 6th in the standings. The Eagles are four points shy of 4th placed Juventus and so far it is possible to overcome this deficit, but team also has to fight Atalanta for that position.
In the latest round Lazio crushed Bologna (3:0), extending the unbeaten run to four Serie A games.
