Argentina national team had a disappointing start to their World Cup campaign, a 1:2 defeat to Saudi Arabia put team's ability to qualify for the playoffs under question. But Lionel Scaloni's team didn't gave up and got a hard-fought victory over Mexico (2:0) in the most important match of the group stage. After that, Albiceleste cruised to a comfortable victory over Poland.

In the round of 16 Argentina got past Australia (2:1). It was a predictable victory, but South American team conceded a goal at 77th minute and let the opponent to create some goalscoring opportunities after that. Same thing happened in the next match against the Netherlands, but the Oranges were better at finishing and scored two goals, leading the game to a penalty shoot-out. However, the Oranges were unlucky and Argentina progressed further.

Semi-final match turned out to be easy for Argentina - Albiceleste scored two goals before half-time. In the second half opponent was unable to get back into the game, while Argentina scored one more goal.

France

Unlike their opponents, France faced no problems in the group stage. After successive victories over Australia (4:1) and Denmark (2:1) Didier Deschamps decided to give some playing time to bench players and, as a result, team lost to Tunisia (0:1).

In the round of 16 France walked past Poland quite easily (3:1). The Tricolors scored three goals and conceded a penalty at the end of the game. In the quarter-final Frenchmen had an intense battle against England. The Three Lions could've lead the game into extra-time, but failed to convert a penalty.

In the semi-final France had their toughest match of the tournament. Despite a 2:0 score, it was a hard-fought victory for the Tricolors. Morocco put up a great offensive performance, but failed to find the net.
