Simone Inzaghi's team kicked off the new Serie A season with two straight victories over Lecce (2:1) and Spezia (3:0). However, in the third round, Inter suffered a 1:3 defeat to Lazio in Rome. They bounced back and beat Cremonese (3:1) in the middle of the week. With nine points, Inter occupy the third line in the table.
